1977-1989 member of the Romanian Communist Party (no managing positions) ;
since 1990, member of the Democratic Forum of the Germans of Romania (FDGR);
1992-1996 member of the Executive Committee;
1998-2002 president of the FDGR

president of the Committee for Human Rights, Cults, and Issues of the National Minorities of the Chamber of Deputies;

From the School Stage to the State Theatre. A View of the History of Brasov Theatre, study published in the volume Brasov. History of a Transylvanian Town, 1999 ;
many other studies in volumes and periodicals published in Romania and Germany, concerning aspects of the contemporary history of the German minority in Romania, the history of theatre in Transylvania, issues of the protection of national minorities, etc.
